Beverly Fell, 86, of Acton, passed away, at Kaplan House in Danvers, Massachusetts on Sunday, March 24, 2013. Born in Bedford, Ma on January 20, 1927 Beverly was the youngest child of Doctor Thomas and Florence (Collupy) Fell. Beverly was raised in Bedford and Lincoln and graduated from Lexington High School and Massachusetts College of Art. Beverly later lived in Concord and Littleton. Beverly worked as a textbook designer at DC Heath, and Allyn and Bacon. She designed many of the books used in middle and high schools in the 1960s and 1970s As a local artist, Beverly won numerous awards for her oil paintings, pastels, and watercolors. Her artwork typically depicted New England landscapes and architecture. An avid outdoorswoman she was a enthusiastic summer and winter hiker, skier, and rower. Gardening and bird watching were also a few of her favorite activities. Beverly was a member and hike leader of the Appalachian Mountain Club. In later life she volunteered for local food banks and senior centers. Beverly was preceded by her brother Jefferson Fell and her sister Patricia (Fell) OHara. Beverly was a beloved aunt and is survived Robin, and John OHara, and Beverly, Catherine, Tom, Greg, and Peter Fell of Yuma, Arizona. Beverly is to be interred with her parents at Shawsheen cemetery in Bedford. Garden in the Woods, supported by the New England Wild Flower Society is expanding their gardens this summer. Beverly was a member of this organization since the early 80's and her family suggest in lieu of flowers, donations for a memorial plantings be sent to the Development Department, New England Wild Flower Society at 180 Hemenway Road in Framingham, MA 01701 or call 1-508-877-7630, ext. 3104.
