Carol Corwin Obituary
Carol Newman Corwin, of New London, NH, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 3rd, 2018 at the age of 84. She was born on January 23rd, 1934 in Boston, MA, the daughter of George and Frances (Johnston) Newman. She grew up in Weston, MA and graduated Weston High School class of 1952. A gifted pianist, she first attended Oberlin College as a music major, then transferred to UNH and completed her bachelors degree with the class of 1956. Carol was the wife of Norman Skip Corwin, who shared with her a deep and abiding love for over 40 years. Carol and Skip were an inseparable pair and travelled widely in their small airplane. They lived in Acton, North Andover, and Ipswich, MA and settled in New London, NH. She was a gracious, elegant lady from her first day to her last. She was particularly devoted to her family. As children married and grandchildren arrived, she became the keeper of the albums; lovingly adding photos, articles, letters, and cheering each accomplishment. Extremely creative, she surrounded herself with beauty and had a knack for interior decorating. Her talents in crafts were remarkable: knitting, needlepoint, sewing, and especially painting, and she shared her gifts freely. She also shared her music; she loved to entertain others on the piano at parties, holidays, and nursing homes. She laughed and joked with a twinkle in her eye. She is predeceased by her brother and sister-in-law Bob and Bee Newman. She is survived by husband Skip, her brother and sister-in-law Don and Jill Newman, children Lynn (and Nate) Rockwell, Catherine Veazey, Barbara (and Scott) DeWall, Dawn (and Marc) Seward, Scott (and Kimberly) Corwin, and many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, May 18th, 2018 at 11:00am at Acton Congregational Church, 12 Concord Rd., Acton, MA. Reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be made to the . She will be dearly missed.
