Francis J. Schell, of Acton, Massachusetts. May 12, 1923 - October 9, 2013 He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Charlotte, his children Mary, Francis, Kate, Lewis, Carl, Barbara and Helen, and fifteen grandchildren. Francis James Schell was born in the roaring twenties, and grew up during the great depression. He served in the Army Air Corps during WWII and was stationed on Guam as an autopilot and Norden Bombsite mechanic. Postwar, he married Charlotte Nisbet (LTJG, USN). He studied physics at Boston College and became an expert in Missile Systems and Strategic Air Defense. He survived hemophilia, rheumatic fever, and polio, and lived 90 good years. He served his country and his family and demonstrated devotion, persistence, fidelity, and loyalty. He taught his family independent thinking, tenacity, initiative, reverence and respect. Francis enjoyed boating on Sebago Lake, photography and collecting cameras, tinkering, story telling, reading and history. Servies have been held at the Acton Funeral Home.
