Capt. Kirk Kellogg Kirk Kellogg ACTON: Captain Kirk Robert Kellogg, US Coast Guard, Ret., 77, of Acton, died with his family by his side on Wed. Feb. 16, 2011 at his home. He and his wife, Joan A. (Butler) Kellogg, were to celebrate their 53rd wedding anniversary in May. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, he was the only child of the late Harold and Margaret (Stewart) Kellogg. Capt. Kellogg was a 1956 graduate of the US Coast Guard Academy, and served honorably on active duty from 1956 until his retirement in 1984. He served in many locations throughout his career,including his favorite Juneau, Alaska, and he was the first stationed at Otis Air Force Station on Cape Cod at its opening. An Acton resident for the past 34 years, he enjoyed working around his home and yard. He especially loved his four granddaughters; spending time and taking trips with them. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Kirk R. "Tex" Kellogg Jr. of Groton, Craig W. Kellogg of Key West, FL., and Cynthia "Cindy" Robinson of Leominster; and four beloved granddaughters, Danielle, Michelle, Christina and Kailey.
