Althea Cynewski

Althea (Moore) Cynewski at 48- Althea Cynewski, of Amesbury, passed Saturday, January 26, 2013 after a valiant battle against ovarian cancer. She always fought with dignity and a sense of humor, supported by her loving family and friends, who will miss her tremendously. Althea was born in Danvers, MA. on July 5, 1964, daughter of Barbara D. Moore and the Late David E. Moore. She grew up in Amesbury and graduated from AHS with the Class of 1982. She then attended Fitchburg State College where she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in elementary education. After graduating from college, Althea married her high school sweetheart, Steven, son of Norman and Lorraine Cynewski. Their son Jared was born in 1989, followed by their second son Jordan born in 1997. This completed their beautiful family, which was Altheas pride and joy. For many years, she was employed by Market Basket supermarkets where she was an office manager. in 1998, following her true passion, she began her career as a teachers assistant at the Cashman Elementary School in Amesbury. While there, she was involved in many activities and committees, but shes probably best remembered fro her famous end-of-year photo slide shows which captured the events of the school year for all to enjoy. She had a variety of interests including reading, gardening, traveling, and bowling. She was a member of the Monday Night Lenas bowling league for 20 years. She was also an avid and vocal supporter of all Boston sports teams. Althea strongly believed in serving and giving back to her community. She participated in local government as an Amesbury town meeting member and served as Luminara co-chair for Amesburys Relay for Life Committee, a cause which was close to her heart. in addition to her devoted husband Steven and her beloved sons Jared and Jordan, she leaves behind her mother, Barbara and her husband Richard Goodrich of Florida, her brother, Matthew Moore and his wife Misako of Newmarket, NH., her sister, Stephanie Schwechheimer and her husband William of Amesbury, her father and mother|in-law Norman and Lorraine Cynewski of Amesbury, her brother-in-law Norman Cynewski and his wife Mae of Plaistow, NH., her sister-in-law Debra Hutchinson and husband Mark of Amesbury, and nieces and nephews. She will also be greatly missed by her book club sisters, her Amesbury Industrial Supply family, her Cashman School family, and her students, whom she loved like her own. Her family would like to thank the talented and dedicated staff of Lahey Clinic in Burlington, MA. especially Dr. Neela Natarajan, Jacqueline Martin RN, and Sharon DiGregorio RN. Her family also thanks the community of Amesbury for the incredible outpouring of love and support during Altheas illness. Family and friends are invited to gather fro a celebration of Altheas life on Sunday February 3, 2013 from Noon to 4:00 pm at the Holy Family Parish Hall 9 Sparhawk St. in Amesbury, parking is available in the Sparhawk St. parking lot. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to The Cashman School Library 193 Lions Mouth Rd. Amesbury or to Amesbury Relay fro Life P.O. Box 116 Amesbury, MA 01913. Arrangements are by the E.V. Jutras & Sons Funeral Home in Amesbury.
