Adeline L. OConnell

Adeline Lucille OConnell, passed away March 10, 2013. Born to John and Amanda Liban on June 27, 1920 in Milwaukee and was the eldest of five siblings. In 1946 at the Officers Club at Fort Chafee, Arkansas, Addie met William H. OConnell of Cambridge, MA and, as the story goes, followed the handsome Airman to Boston where they were soon married. Bill and Addie moved to Arlington in 1948 where they remained all their lives. Addie played the piano and loved to sing and dance. She was a member of Arlingtons Sweet Adelines and a president of the Arlington Catholic Womens Club. Bill and Addie loved to play bridge with their bridge group and attend square dancing parties. Addie was always making something | crocheting afghans, knitting, sewing clothes for herself or her daughters, baking and painting. One of Addies oil paintings was featured in the Arlington Advocate in July of 2006 with an article about elderly artists in Arlington. Addie lived at Sunrise Assisted Living in Arlington from 2003 | 2012. Adeline is predeceased by her husband, Bill and her sister, MaryAnn Healey, and survived by her five children and their families: Michael and his wife Jenni of Fort Mill SC; Kathleen ONeill and her husband Seamus of Ireland; Bill and his wife Barbara of Bennington, VT; John of Arlington and Wanda OConnell of Bronx NY. Sister of Jim, Ray and Eugene Liban of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and the late MaryAnn Healey. Cherished grandmother of Scott and his wife Caroline of Charlotte, NC, and Susan Arnold and her husband Bob of Amherst, NH. Great-grandmother of Griffin and Addie OConnell, and Jack and Marin Arnold. Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing Addie was blessed by her great sense of humor and her love of fun! We will miss you so much, Addie. Funeral Services were held from the Keefe Funeral Home, 5 Chestnut St., (Rt.60, adjacent to St. Agnes Church) Arlington. A Funeral Mass was held at Saint Agnes Church, Arlington, followed by the burial in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Arlington.
