Andrew McIntosh Obituary

Andrew James McIntosh, Jr., 87, of Arlington, died on September 25th surrounded by his family. Born in Providence in 1926, he spent many of his formative years in the Philippines, where his father was a Scottish banker. He returned to the United States to graduate from Vermont Academy, before joining the Navy where he served in the Pacific in World War II. After the war, Andrew returned to school and graduated from Yale University. Exceptionally creative and intellectually curious, Andrew was wordsmith and writer for ad companies and tech companies alike. After retirement, he volunteered in the Boston Public Schools reading programs. He never stopped sharing his knowledge and passion for learning with others. He will be remembered by all who knew him for his sharp sense of humor, warm heartedness and tales of adventures and travels. Andrew was a devout fan of jazz, particularly Dixieland, and of the natural world. He leaves his loving wife of 52 years, Wendy (Dorman), his daughter Heather McIntosh Case and her husband, Dean, of San Jose, California, and his son, Andrew and his wife, Lisa, from North Attleborough. He is also missed by his three grandchildren, Iain Case, Christopher McIntosh and Aidan McIntosh. Services were held on Sunday Sept. 29 under the care of the Saville Chapel of DeVito Funeral Home.

Dear Heather and Andrew, I'm so sorry to hear of your father's death. I am thinking of you and wishing you well. Reading the obituary now I have learned that your dad went to Vermont Academy. I know that area very well. Let me know if you'd like to visit, our VT home is in the next town. Best to your mom,
Mary Howard Feder
