Antonio "Tony" Jorge died at his home in Arlington on March 7th after a long struggle with Alzheimer's surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Palmer, MA, but then he and his brother Jose where sent to live with their Aunt in Mangualde Portugal; where at a later date, he married Maria Cecilia. Antonio left Portugal as a young man and came to East Cambridge and found work at National Casket Company. Shortly after, he was able to send for Cecilia and their daughter to be with him. Tony moved his family to Arlington where he resided for the rest of his life. Tony being proud to be a naturalized citizen, spent much of his early years in America helping his family and friends come also and become U.S. citizens. He would always explain even though he had an accent, he was born in the United States. Tony, the devoted husband of the late Maria Cecilia Jorge, is survived by his loving family daughter Maria "Tina" Howard and her husband Bob, son Alfred Jorge and his wife Diane, granddaughter Kim, great-grandson Josh, sister Tereza of Parede, Portugal, brother Jose of Cambridge and Fernando of Hopedale. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends. A funeral service will be held at the Rogers & Hutchins Funeral Home in Arlington on Monday, March 10th. Interment will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Arlington.
