Michael Vincent Ofria 63, of Kansas City, MO passed away October 31, 2013 surrounded by his family. Michael was born February 5, 1950 in Cambridge, to Carmelo Cal and Marjorie (Tobin) Ofria. He graduated Arlington High School in 1968 and shortly after joined the U.S. Navy where he was an experimental deep sea diver and member of the USS Seawolf (SSN-575). He was awarded The Navy and Marine Corp Medal for heroism while deployed in 1974 and the Navy Achievement Medal for professional achievement during 1973 and 1974. Michael worked as an operations manager for various companies. He received a BS In Business Management from Eastern Nazarene College and a Masters in Adult Education from Park University. Michael loved the ocean and enjoyed traveling, cycling, cooking, and bird-watching. He is survived by his mother Marjorie (Tobin) Ofria of Arlington, MA, his beloved wife Karen (Setter) Ofria of Kansas City, MO, son Ian Ofria and his wife Susan of Chicago, IL, daughter Elisa Ofria of San Francisco, CA, step-daughters Jaclynn (Bivens) Moore and her husband Steve Moore, Ashley Bivens and Samantha Setter, granddaughters Kaitlyn Ofria and Maryn Moore, brothers Richard Ofria of Concord, MA, Thomas Ofria and his wife Mary Ellen of Medford, MA, Edward Ofria and his wife Sheryl of Richardson, TX, sisters Linda Ofria of Dedham, MA and Patricia (Ofria) Economides and her husband John of Bourne, MA, first wife Esther Carroll of Hudson, NH along with many loving nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his memorial service on Friday, November 8 at 11:30 am at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA.
