Robert (Rob) Fletcher Clark, 71, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 4, 2013 in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Rob was born in Medford, Massachusetts on March 6, 1941 and was a lifelong Arlington resident. He was the son of Charles Warren and Inez Day Clark, who predeceased him. He graduated from Arlington High School and attended the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Robs career in retail included years at Jordan Marsh and at Burlington Coat Factory. He was known for his reliability and willingness to shoulder responsibility, and he valued the friendships he made. He was a sports fan, particularly supporting the Boston Red Sox. Rob was a golf enthusiast and he and his father enjoyed the game together. He was a faithful son, providing companionship to his parents throughout their lives. The family garden was a particular source of joy to Rob, and he took pride in the flowers and vegetables that resulted from his efforts. Rob is survived by his brother, Stanley W. Clark of Smyrna, TN, his nieces Donna Scott and husband Ken of Cary, NC, Cynthia Clark and husband Joseph Palescandolo of Rockville, MD, and Nancy Patterson and husband Marty of Smyrna, TN, his nephew Tom Clark and wife Debbie of Montrose, PA, and by ten great-nieces and great-nephews. He is also survived by his long-time girlfriend, Barbara Templin of Arlington. A service of remembrance will be held on Friday, March 15th, 2013, at 11:30 am in the Saville Chapel of DeVito Funeral Home, 1145 Massachusetts Ave., Arlington, MA with interment to follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, 70 Medford Street, Arlington, MA. Friends may visit from 11:00 am - 11:30 am at DeVito Funeral Home prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army (www.salvationarmyusa.org) or Boys Town (www.boystown.org), organizations which Rob admired.
