Edward J. " Pa " Boudreau, age 90, one of The Greatest Generation died after a brief illness on January 1, 2013. A life long resident of Arlington MA he also enjoyed for the last 20 years his home away from home in Rockport, MA which he shared with his Best Friend Forever, Carol Gaudette. He was predeceased by his wife Anella Sakowich Boudreau in 1971. He was an engineer and scientist, after returning from WWII as a flight engineer on B-29s out of Guam, he was employed by Harvard Universitys Engineering Graduate School and later for almost four decades at Arthur D. Little of Cambridge, MA. During his career he was involved in many projects for NASA, including two lunar missions and two Orbiter (aka Shuttle) ones. His designs, fabrications and inventions covered everything from flow measurement and controls, energy saving devices including special design thermocouples, weather satellites and medical devices. He loved animals and would often spend time in his garden or in the yards enjoying the surroundings and feeding the birds and other critters. Some would actually come and feed right from his hand; they were so trusting of their friend and benefactor. He enjoyed walks with his dogs and loved sitting watching TV with his cats. An avid football fan he would watch, follow or listen to every game of the college or NFL team that his son, Paul T. or his grandson Paul F. would be coaching. Technology never intimidated him although he always felt more comfortable with things he could take apart and re- engineer to a better design and usefulness. He was working on a new project to expand his garage in Rockport and had cut down two trees and chopped them up two weeks before his stroke. Whether it was building his Koi pond, fixing a dishwasher or build- ing the meditation labyrinth in Rockport he always wanted to keep busy creating. He was loved and cherished by his family and his many friends that span several generations. Besides Carol Gaudette he leaves Edward J. Boudreau, Jr. and his wife Janet of Winchester, MA., Paul T. Boudreau and his wife Joan of St. Charles MO. and St. Augustine FL. Grand children - Nancy A. Boudreau and her spouse David J. Du Priest of Stoneham, MA, Paul F. Boudreau of St. Charles, MO., Mark E. Boudreau and Kat Zeiler of Arlington, MA. and Jill A Boudreau and her spouse Eric Meyer of North Attleboro. He also leaves his six great grandchildren, Kalyn, Zach, Olivia and Grace Meyer and Tanner and Aaron Dupriest plus many nieces and nephews. All will miss his jokes, his smile and most of all his steadfast commitment to family and doing the right things to leave this world a better place. He truly was one of The Greatest Generation and a one of a kind guy.
