I am so sorry for your great loss. May the God who "binds up the brokenhearted" and "comforts all who mourn" sustain your family during this challenging time. (Isaiah 61:1,2) I know you miss your aunt Clare she sounded like a wonderful lady.

I was always in awe of my Aunt Clare. She was my "hippy" aunt, who stood out from the rest of us. Her style of dress was eclectic, her home on Sutton place was like a mini modern museum. Her career as an Interior Designer came through when I would walk through her door. I remember visiting her on Sutton Place a few times. She would always prepare a lovely lunch, with a presentation that would rival a New York restaurant. Her apartment was a duplex, and she would disappear to finish preparing our lunch, with instructions to sit and relax, she didn't need help. Her artwork and sculptures were displayed throughout. I knew her paintings were hers, I never asked about her sculptures, I assumed that they too were from her hands, as the artist she was. Toni straightened me out as to which art pieces were her creation and which were her gathered possessions. She shared with me her Sutton Place neighborhood history that she was working on, and then we as a family, saw her finished publication. She was very proud of the published work of poetry by Nick with the illustraions by Toni. I vaguely remember her Chappaqua home, but what I do remember was a cozy home filled with family and cousins from visits to her there. Seymour and I visited her in Massachussets, and were very happy to see that her new life in a suburban setting was fulfilling for her. She was already involved in community affairs, was well oriented to what activities were offered to her as a senior, and most importantly was near Beryl and Bob. She couldn't say enough about how helpful they were to her, and how close she felt to her son-in-law Bob. She loved to brag about the accomplishments of her grandchildren. She always had that "Clare" chuckle when she reminisced. Seymour and I look forward to the Memorial gathering at cousin Susan's home, where we will continue to collectively share our wonderful memories of Aunt Clare. She will always be in our hearts with love and inspiration.
