Daniel R. Donahue

Obituary Condolences

Daniel Robert (Bob) Donahue, 95, of Dennis, formerly of Weymouth and Braintree, passed away at home on Dec. 27 after a brief illness. Born in Boston to Daniel and Marion Donahue, he grew up in Dorchester with siblings Grace (Carlsen) and Clifford, who have predeceased him. After graduating from Dorchester High School, he served in the Army in the South Pacific during World War II. He was employed at the Quincy shipyard and later worked in security for M.I.T. and Draper Laboratory. Bob enjoyed listening to music, playing the organ, ballroom dancing, traveling, golfing, and following the Red Sox. More than anything, he cherished the time he spent with his family. Bob was predeceased in 1976 by his first wife of 29 years, Lois (Macdonald) and in 2012 by his second wife of 28 years, Helen (Ennis). He is survived by daughters, Nancy Durose (Clive) of Crofton, MD and Elaine Allard (Bill) of Dennis; grandchildren Matthew (Christine) Durose of Manassas VA and David Durose (Sara) of Olney MD; and 3 great-grandchildren. Upon marrying Helen, Bob gained another loving family including stepson Michael (Michelle) Ennis of Plymouth, 10 stepgrandchildren, and 12 step great grandchildren. He is also survived by one nephew and three nieces. Burial at the Massachusetts National Cemetery and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Bob's family would like to thank the caregivers he has had since moving to Cape Cod. In Bob's memory, donations may be made to Elder Services of Cape Cod, 68 Route 134, S. Dennis, MA 02660.
