Ralph Maynard Obituary

Ralph A. Maynard, age 85, of South Dennis died peacefully Jan. 18, at home surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of Dorothy (Johnson) for 62 years; devoted father of Carol Hammond and husband Pete of Barnstable, Ralph Jr. of South Dennis and Joanne Vogt and husband Pete. He was predeceased by his loving daughter, Susan Maynard. He was the grandfather aka Gramps of Melissa and Jamie Sandino, Robbie, Megan and Nicholas Maynard, and Randi and Vanessa Vogt. Ralph had two great-grandchildren. Ralph was born and raised in Stoughton. He graduated from Stoughton High School in 1944. After high school, he went off and served his country in World War II and fought in the Battle of the Buldge. He returned from the war and that is when he met the love of his life. They settled and raised their children in North Easton. In 1975, Ralph bought Mid Cape Garage Doors in Dennis. He owned the business for 27 years until he retired. Ralph and Dot spent their retirement years in Naples, Fla. Ralph helped establish and was active with Old Timers softball league until the age of 79. He was always active with bowling, horseshoes, helping with pancake breakfasts and he loved acting in the Naples plays. Ralph always put his family first, he loved taking his children and grandchildren on hikes, reading books to them or just playing a game with them. He will always be remembered for his big smile and his positive attitude. A funeral service was held Jan. 20, at Doane, Beal & Ames Funeral Home, 729 Rte. 134, South Dennis. Burial in Swan Lake Cemetery in Dennis. Donations in his name may be made to VNA of Cape Cod-Hospice, 434 Rte. 134, Suite D3, South Dennis, MA 02660.

Mr. Maynard,
Sir, I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served with the U.S. Army in Europe during WW II and also for being a member of the Greatest Generation. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
