Catherine A. Silvestrone, 88, of Billerica, a former longtime Bedford resident, died on July 2, 2013, in Burlington. Mrs. Silvestrone was born in North Walpole, New Hampshire and was the daughter of the late John and Maria (Alario) D'Amore. She was a graduate of the Pratt Institute in New York where she received her bachelor of science degree and began her career as a registered dietitian. She worked in many hospitals and met her husband, Gismonde while working at a tuberculosis sanatorium. They were married in Everett on September 2, 1951. In later years, she became a licensed hairdresser and joined her husband working at Mr. Gene Hairstylist in Bedford. Mrs. Silvestrone was a member of St. Michael parish and sang in the choir for many years which brought her great joy. She will be remembered for her warmth and kindness and devotion to her family and friends. During her retirement, she lived in Dennis, Mass. and enjoyed winters in Naples, Florida. She is survived by her husband, Gismonde Silvestrone; six children and their spouses, Donna and Joel Gandolfi of Wareham, Jean and Marsby Warters of Fairhaven, Paula Hull of Longmont, Colorado, Carl and Cathy Silvestrone of Bedford, Molly and Steven Schaeffer of Duxbury and Daniel and Marion Silvestrone of Bedford; ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers and sisters, Johnny, Happy Joe and Carl D'Amore and sisters, Julia Granone and Mary Donofre. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated in St. Michael Church, Bedford, on Monday, July 8, at 11:00 A.M. Interment was in Shawsheen Cemetery in Bedford. Memorial contributions may be made to Brightview Concord River, Resident Activities, 199 Concord Rd., Billerica, MA 01821. Arrangements were in the care of Bedford Funeral Home.
