Shirley Kenney, 79, of Bedford, died unexpectedly but peacefully on February 4, 2013, surrounded by her loving family and friends. Shirley was born in Cambridge, Mass. on April 28, 1933, to the late Harry T. and Rose O'Connor. She was a graduate of Cambridge High and Latin School in 1951. Shirley had been retired after working at The DOD, AF Research Lab at Hanscom AFB for over 30 years. She was the beloved mother to Debbie Leeman of Bedford, Jean Gorski and her husband, Jim of Fremont, Wisconsin, Elaine Davis and her husband, Donnie of Littleton, Carolyn Conte and her husband, Carmine of Burlington and Karen Kenney of Bedford and longtime friend, John Tobin. She was the beloved aunt of Harry O'Connor and wife, Maureen of Burlington, Kevin O'Connor and wife, Diana of Las Vegas, NV, Patricia Marciano and her husband, Rob of Woburn and Donna Iovino and her husband, Bob of Bedford. Shirley's grandchildren include Brenton Leeman, Jared and Rebecca Billington, Jason and Julie Davis, Brittany, Christopher and Deanna Conte, and 2 friendly felines.......Zoe and Trixie. Her grand nieces and nephews include Timothy, Matthew, and Ryan O'Connor, Christine and her husband, Ryan Hubbard and first great-grand nephew, Jonathan Hubbard and Andrea and Robert Iovino. She is also survived by her brother, Richard and wife, Thelma of Arkansas, sister, Doris Shotwell of Colorado and sister-in-law, Jean O'Connor of Massachusetts. She was predeceased by her brothers, Harrry, Warren and Frederick and sisters Mary and Barbara. Also survived by her beloved best friend, Joanne Roussel, of Massachusetts. Shirley was a faithful and loyal parishioner of St. Michael's Church since moving to Bedford in 1953. Shirley was an avid candlepin bowler and loved a good game of Scrabble or Dominos. Shirley was a awesome baker, and her signature cookies were home-made chocolate chip and oatmeal and became family favorites. Her funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Michael Church on February 8, followed by interment in Shawsheen Cemetery in Bedford. Arrangements were in the care of Bedford Funeral Home.
