Biagino M. Benny Taddeo, 97, of Franklin, died peacefully on Friday April 7, 2017, at home with family at his side, following an illness. He was the beloved husband of the late Itala (Iadinardi) Taddeo, who died in 2009. Born February 3, 1920, in Santa Maria del Molise, Italy a son of the late Michele and Rosa (Carlucci) Taddeo, he was a Franklin resident since 1958. He was raised and educated in Italy and worked as a foreman, for the former Lord & Jealous Mill in the City Mills section of Norfolk and also worked for the Clark Cutler McDermott Company. Following his retirement he worked in the kitchen at the former Union Caf in Franklin. Biagino served his beloved country in the Italian Army during WW11, serving as a Bersaglieri soldier in the Italian Army; he participated in numerous campaigns and was wounded in action. Not wanting to fight the allies, he chose to recover fallen planes, and then becoming a detective in 1945 with the Carabinieri (federal police). Benny was a hard worker, who provided for his family, which meant everything to him. He enjoyed gardening, making wine, and tinkering around the house. He was a devoted member of St. Marys Church in Franklin and would often be seen walking to church. He is survived by his children, Elio Taddeo and his wife Maria of Franklin and Antoinette M. Finnegan and her husband of Brian of Franklin. son-in-law Alex McWilliam, daughter-n-law Karen Taddeo of Wrentham. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Melissa, Ben and Mark Taddeo, Gina McWilliam, Kelly, Joe and Julie Finnegan and several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Flavio Taddeo and Rosalba McWilliam and the brother of the late Francesco, Alberto, Nicola, Anthony Taddeo and Carmen Ferrara. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Wednesday, April 12th, at 10:15AM from the Charles F. Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Marys Church 1 Church Sq. Franklin at 11AM. Interment will follow at the parish cemetery.
