Carol M. (Gauthier) Bassignani 68, of Franklin, died peacefully, at her home surrounded by her family, Wednesday Dec. 10, 2014 following an illness. She was the beloved wife of Nello P. Bassignani, Jr. Born June 13, 1946 in Milford, a daughter of the late Eli and Mary C. (Capone) Gauthier, she was a lifelong Franklin resident. She was raised and educated in Franklin, and was the former housekeeper at St. Marys Rectory in Franklin for over 10 years. Carol was also an integral part of the St. Roccos festival and for many years was a CCD teacher. She treasured spending time with her family, traveling to Disney World and Italy, was an avid gardener, a coach for Franklin Girls Softball, and was a member of the Franklin Gridiron Club, where she was known for her famous chili. She also enjoyed arts & crafts and doing water colors. In addition to her husband of 49 years, she is survived by her children; Lisa C. Bassignani and her husband Ronald Cook of Foxboro, Mary E. Davis and her husband Michael of Franklin, Debra L. Hanson of Franklin and Philip N. Bassignani and his wife Deidre of Franklin. Also surviving are her grandchildren; Nathan P. Bassignani, Lucy M. Cook, Autumn M. Hanson, Caoilinn M., Michael P. and Joseph N. Bassignani, a son in law Marc E. Hanson and a mother in law Catherine N. (Bertulli) Bassignani of Florida. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Monday Dec. 15th, at 11AM from the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home, 33 Cottage St. with a funeral Mass in St. Marys Church, Franklin at 12PM. Burial will be held at a later date in St. Marys Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday 2-6PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be sent to Dana Farber Brigham & Womens Cancer Center 20 Prospect St. Milford, MA 01757.
