Charles A. Smith Obituary
Charles A. Smith, 73, of Franklin, died peacefully Saturday, August 20, 2016 at Brigham & Womens Hospital in Boston, following an illness. He was the beloved husband of Judith E. Judy (Wasiuk) Smith. Born December 27, 1942 in Milford, a son of the late Dr. Eugene F. Smith and Mary H. (Dmytryck) Smith, he was a former resident of Mendon before moving to Franklin 48 years ago. Mr. Smith was raised in the local area and was a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, and for over 36 years worked as the chef at Kens Steakhouse on Route 9 in Framingham. Following his retirement he assisted at TJs Fine Food and Spirits in Ashland. He enjoyed riding his bike, fishing, traveling to the Caribbean Islands, spending time with his family and attending all his grandchildrens sporting and dance events. He also enjoyed being at his cottage in Mattapoisett. In addition to his wife of 53 years, he is survived by his children, John C. Smith and his wife Angela of Franklin, Michael T. Smith and his wife Maria of Mansfield and Daniel E. Smith of Mansfield, a brother, Dr. Eugene F. Smith of Danvers, 2 sisters, Carol Manning of Oregon and Patricia May of Michigan. Also surviving are his cherished grandchildren, Noelle, Joshua, Tyler, Marisa, Mackenzie, Lauren and Matthew Smith. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service Friday, August 26th, at 10AM in the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home, 33 Cottage Street. Interment will follow at St. Marys Cemetery, Franklin. Calling hours are Thursday from 5-8PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be sent to 9 Erie Dr. Natick, MA 01760.
