Donald George Netto, 77, of Franklin died peacefully at home on Saturday, September 7, 2013. He was the husband of M. Patricia Netto. Born in Watertown on April 20, 1936, he was the son of the late Walter Netto & Pauline (Hartley) Netto. He graduated from Manlius Military Academy in New York & Northeastern University. He was a retired systems analyst for New England Telephone Company. He was instrumental in the design & implementation of Chapter 766. He loved working with children & was a Cub Master for Pack 29 & assistant Scout Master for Troop 29. He coached Little League baseball & soccer. On July 25, 1994 he was blessed to receive Geoffrey Patrick's heart. His survival made him aware of the importance of living life to its fullest. He focused on church work at St. Mary. He became a Hospitality Minister & a Eucharistic Minister. He worked on the Jubilee Committee. For many years he worked on the St. Rocco feast chairing many booths. His greatest pleasure was as Chairman for the Bereavement Ministry. He was a former member of the Franklin Finance Committee. He delivered Meals on Wheels, worked on the Senior Fair & cooked breakfast at the Senior Center. He was past chairman of the Disability Committee of Franklin. He travelled extensively in the U.S. & many foreign countries. He loved to travel with his granddaughters to view life through a child's eyes. In addition to his wife of 49 years he leaves his children; Jeffrey of Franklin, Kevin of Northbridge & Stephen & Linda of Franklin. He also leaves his granddaughters: Nicole Leland, Amber Netto & Jessica Netto & his sister Betty West in FL. Relatives & friends were invited to attend his funeral on Wednesday, September 11 at 9:15 from the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin, 131 Main St. (www.ginleyfuneralhomes. com) followed by a funeral Mass at St. Mary Church in Franklin at 10 a.m. Interment followed at St. Mary Cemetery. Calling hours were held on Tuesday from 4 -8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Missionaries of the Poor, P.O. Box 29893, Atlanta, GA. 30359.
