Doris L. Vatkevich Obituary
Doris L. Vatkevich, 92, of Wrentham, formerly of Osterville, passed peacefully at home on January 24, 2016. She was the beloved wife of Joseph D. Vatkevich. Born in Brockton on August 23, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Gustave and Selma Lawson. Doris was educated in Brockton schools. In earlier days she worked as a radiology technician at Brockton Hospital and as a travel agent for American Express. Her greatest joy was working as a teachers aide at St. Edwards school in Brockton, where she loved helping children learn to read in the reading program. She was a member of the PM Club in Brockton, an organization which performed charity work. She loved to read and work in her garden, and was very proud of her travels to Europe and Sweden. In addition to her husband Joseph, Doris is survived by two sons; Mark Vatkevich and his wife Deirdre Greene of Foxboro, and Peter Vatkevich of Lowell. Also survived by two grandsons, John and Brian Vatkevich. She was the sister of the late Eldon and Robert Lawson. Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation on Wednesday morning from Friday morning, from 9:30 to10:30 a.m. in the RJ Ross Fu-neral Home, 135 South Street, Wrentham. A funeral Mass will follow visitation at 11 a.m. in St. Marys Church, 130 South Street, Wrentham. Burial will be private in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
