Dorothy F. (Shukis) Pavlik, 88, a lifelong resident of Medway, died Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at her home. Born in Medway on August 16, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Frank D. and Mary C. (Westkage) Shukis. Mrs. Pavlik was a 1946 graduate of Medway High School where she was treasurer of her class. She attended the Boston Dispensary and earned a degree in Microbiology from Framingham State College. Before her retirement, Mrs. Pavlik worked at the Massachusetts State Laboratory in Jamaica Plain. She had previously worked at Wrentham State School and Medfield State Hospital. She was an amazing woman who could do just about anything. She was a wonderful cook, expert gardener and avid traveler. Her family meant everything to her. She enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and the companionship of her dog Emmit. She is survived by two daughters, Susan J. Pavlik and her husband Robert J. Girling of Norwood and Nancy Russell and her husband Stephen of Douglas, two sons, James Pavlik and his wife Kristin of Kingston and Thomas Pavlik and his wife Pamela of Medway and five grandchildren, Kaleigh, Tyler, Isabel, Noah and Jeremiah. She is also survived by a sister Marion Smith of Worcester, a brother Frank Shukis of Wilmington and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Pavlik was predeceased by two sons, George Jr. and Daniel Pavlik, a sister Constance Gray and her former husband George F. Pavlik, Sr. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral from the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway () on Monday, October 17 at 9:15 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass at St. Joseph Church, 151 Village St. in Medway at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to the George and Daniel Pavlik Scholarship Fund c/o Medway High School, 88 Summer St., Medway, MA 02053.
