Dorothy (King) Piekarski of Franklin, formerly of South Boston lost her battle with Alzheimer's Disease on Jan 11,2016. Born March 21, 1931 in Framingham, Ma to Howard King and Margaret (Walsh) King. She attended St. Augustine and Cardinal Cushing Central High School in South Boston and resided there until she moved to Franklin in 1958. She is preceded in death by her late husband, James A Piekarski as well as three brothers Richard, Howard, and John and one sister Mary Kay Zavatone. She also lost two children before her passing, James and Diane. She is survived by her three sons John J, Robert P, and David T. She was also known as Nana to her six grandchildren, Bonnie, John Palmer, Cory, Trevor, Christopher, and Tyler as well as her seven great grand children. She is also survived by one sister in law Marie King as well as many nieces and nephews. Dorothy or Dottie as known by friends worked for a short time at Carneys Drug Store in Franklin, before beginning a career primarily helping adults with disabilities. She worked at Wrentham State School and then H.M.E.A where she stayed until she retired at the age of 72. Dottie enjoyed many activities. She was an avid bowler and card player. Her favorite activity was knitting. Over the years she had knitted hundreds of Christmas stockings for loved ones as well as for strangers that may have touched her heart. One of her most cherished things for many years were her weekly breakfast outings with her brother Howie and sister in law and childhood friend Anne. Dottie also spent her summers casting line after line fishing off Onset Pier mostly with her two oldest grandchildren Bonnie and John Palmer. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her calling hours Friday January 15th, at the Charles F. Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. from 4-8PM.
