Eleanor J. Fontaine, 88, of Franklin, died Friday, March 9, 2012, at Milford Regional Medical Center, following an illness. Born June 17, 1923, in Franklin, a daughter of the late Matthew J. Fontaine Sr. and Mary R. (Vendetti) Fontaine, she was a lifelong Franklin resident. She was raised and educated in Franklin, and until her retirement several years ago, worked as a sales clerk for the Franklin Mill Store. She enjoyed sewing, playing bingo, watching the Boston Red Sox, the New England Patriots, and animals, especially dogs. Eleanor is survived by two sisters, Gloria L. Fontaine and Pauline P. Olson and her husband, Kenneth; and a sister-in-law, Joan (Langston) Fontaine, all of Franklin. She was the sister of the late Matthew J. Fontaine Jr. and Michael Fontaine. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Monday, March 12, at 9:15 a.m., at the Charles F. Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home (www.oterifuneralhome. com), 33 Cottage St., Franklin, with a funeral Mass at St. Marys Church, 1 Church Square, at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Marys Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday, March 11, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory, sent to a charity of ones choice, would be appreciated.
