Ellen A. (Carrigan) Gruseck 73, of Franklin, died peacefully, surrounded by her loving family and best friend, Wednesday July 29, 2015 at the Blaire House of Milford, following an illness. She was the wife of the late Karl J. Gruseck, who died in 1988. Born December 2, 1941, in Boston a daughter of the late William and Mary (Lehane) Carrigan, she was a resident of Franklin for over 47 years. She was raised and educated in the Jamaica Plain section of Boston, where she attended St. Thomas Aquinas School and was a graduate of Jamaica Plain High School. For many years Ellen worked for the Town of Franklin as a cafeteria worker in the schools. She was a devoted mother, who cherished her children, grandchildren and family. She enjoyed reading, word searches, and following her children and grandchildrens sporting events. Ellen was a well-known personality at many soccer fields in the area and along with her son would be seen at the Karl J. Gruseck Memorial Cup Soccer Match. She was a member of St. Marys Catholic Womens Club, Franklin and was a member of the Pip Girls. Ellen is survived by her children, Mary Ellen G. McKenna and her husband Francis of Northborough, Joseph K. Gruseck and his wife Kristen of Mansfield and Karla G. Miller and her husband Mike of Northborough. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Kevin, Sean, Aidan McKenna, Julia, Karl Gruseck and Max Miller. She was the grandmother of the late Ryan McKenna and sister of the late William & Francis Carrigan, and Annemarie Grankewicz. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Monday Aug. 3rd, at 10:15AM from the Charles F. Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home, 33 Cottage St. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Marys Church 1 Church Sq. Franklin at 11AM. Interment will follow at the parish cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday from 1-5PM at the funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be sent to the 5 Manley St. West Bridgewater, MA 02379.
