Elvira M. Vera (Podeia) Ferranti 95, of Franklin, died peacefully, with her family at her side, Monday February 17, 2014 at the Kindred Transitional Care & Rehabilitation in Franklin, following an illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Walter G. Ferranti, Sr. who died in 1999. Born February 15, 1919 in Boston, a daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Pagano) Podeia, she was a former longtime resident of East Boston and Walpole before moving to Franklin. She was raised and educated in East Boston, and was a homemaker. Vera was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was always the center of attention at all family gatherings. She was also a devoted catholic and was a former member of Blessed Sacrament Church in Walpole, and was a member of St. Marys Church in Franklin. She is survived by her children; Walter G. Ferranti, Jr. and his wife Yvonne of Franklin and Loretta J. Nigro and her husband Daniel of Ocala, Florida, 2 sisters, Lena DiStasio of Acton and Susie DAddario of Woburn, 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Saturday February 22nd, at 9:30am from the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home, 33 Cottage St., Franklin, with a funeral Mass in St. Marys Church, Franklin at 10AM. Interment will follow at Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton. Visitation at the funeral home will be on Saturday from 8:00-9:30AM. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be sent to , 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
