Everett J. Peet, 88, of Medway, died Monday, June 7, 2010, at the Franklin Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. He was the beloved husband of Natalie E. (Pestana) Peet since 1946. Born in Goshen, N.Y., on July 2, 1921, he was a son of the late Everett J. and Frances (Lyons) Peet. Mr. Peet was a resident of Medway since 1955. He graduated from Suffern High School in Suffern, N.Y. in 1939 and the New York Maritime Academy in 1941. He attended night school and earned a mechanical engineering degree from Northeastern University. Mr. Peet served in the Merchant Marines during World War II. Retiring in 1990, Mr. Peet worked at Plainville Machine for 12 years and had formerly worked at United Shoe Machinery in Medway. Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Martha Scannell and her husband, James of Franklin and Betsy J. Peet of Newbury and a son, James Peet of Medway. He is also survived by two grandsons, Jeffrey Scannell and his wife, Erica of Franklin and David Scannell of Ashland and six great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Donald F. Peet and Marjorie Strickland. Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Thursday, June 10, from 6-8 p.m., in the Ginley-Crowley Funeral Home (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com), 3 Barber St. in Medway. Burial will take place privately at Evergreen Cemetery in West Medway. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Milford Regional Healthcare Foundation "Cancer Care" 14 Prospect St., Milford, MA 01757.
