Evert A. Swenson, 90, a lifelong Franklin resident, died Friday, June 24, 2011, at the Franklin Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. He was the husband of Sophie C. (Ravinski) Swenson. Born in Franklin, June 26, 1920, a son of the late Anselm and Anna (Johanson) Swenson, he was raised and educated in Franklin. Mr. Swenson was a retired self-employed carpenter and was the co-founder of Pine Tree Lumber Co., which became Franklin Homes, and later Franklin Lumber Co. on Dean Avenue. He served in the US Navy during World War II. He attained the rank of aviation ordnanceman 3rd class and was awarded the World War II Victory Medal, the European African Middle Eastern Theater Medal, The American Theatre Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged in February 1946. He was a life member of the Norfolk American Legion, and the National Rifle Assoc. He loved to take road trips with his family, especially to Northern New England and Canada. Surviving in addition to his wife of 67 years are two daughters, Susan K. Luccini and Anne F. Vendetti of Franklin; four grandchildren, Derek, Denise, Kellie and Christina; and three great-grandchildren, Noah, Alex and Audrey. He was also the father of the late David E. Swenson. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Tuesday, June 28, at Charles F. Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home, 33 Cottage St. Interment with military honors will follow in the family lot in Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton.
