Obituary Condolences

Frederick H. McMaster, 99, of Medway where he has been a resident since 1939, died unexpectedly Monday, March 16, 2015 at the Milford Regional Medical Center. Born in Auburn, Maine, he was the son of the late Forest and Albina L. (Wilson) McMaster and was educated in the Charlestown, Watertown and Braintree public schools. After a tour of duty in the U.S. Army during World War II, Mr. McMaster went to work for the former Lord's Department Store in Medfield where he had been employed for over 44 years as a department manager until his retirement in 1998. In his later years he became interested in and joined many different Masonic organizations, some of them being Charles River Lodge, AF & AM, West Medway of which he was a Past Master and life member, Valley of Boston Scottish Rite, ALEPPO Shrine of Wilmington, Boston Court #103, Royal Order of Jesters, the Kachina Billiken Klub, past president of the Medfield Acacia Club, Past Patron of Quinobequin Chapter #67, Order of Eastern Star and Past District Deputy Grand Secretary of the Grand Lodge of Masons, Boston, MA. He also enjoyed watching Boston sports, particularly the Red Sox and Patriots. Fred loved fishing and spent many happy times with his wife Evelyn at their favorite spot, Pleasant Pond in Gardiner, ME. He was a devoted family man, spending many hours watching his great grandchildren's sporting events. His greatest happiness was in spending time with his family and closest friends. Fred was predeceased by his wife of over 61 years Evelyn M. (Gray) McMaster and is the loving father of Frederick M. "Ted" McMaster and his wife Bonnie of Calera, AL, Dorothy J. "Dottie" Beksha of Franklin, and the late Donald E. McMaster, Sandra M. Martinis-Gronberg and Gilbert "Pete" McMaster. He also leaves a brother, Clyde V. McMaster of Gardiner, ME and 28 grandchildren, 70 great grandchildren and 28 great great grandchildren. His funeral to which all are invited will be held Saturday, March 21st, 2015 at 11:00 AM in the J.A. Roberts Chapel of the Roberts-Mitchell Funeral Home, 15 Miller Street, Medfield. Burial with military honors will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, West Medway. Funeral home visiting hours are Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.
