Gail A. (Cochran) Colace, of Franklin died peacefully Friday, July 5, 2013, after a long battle with cancer surrounded by her loving family. Gail was born May 12, 1964 in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, the daughter of Harry G. and Barbara E. (Houseman) Cochran. She is survived by her husband, Carmine D. Colace; sons Carmine (C.J.), Nicholas, Michael and David; brother Glenn and his wife, Christina of Mendon; aunts Darlene Manella of Mendon, Natalie Heath of Cumberland, RI, and Alice Williams of Huntingtown, MD; uncle Karl Anderson of Rocky Mount, VA; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Gail was raised in Franklin and graduated from Franklin High School in 1982. She married her high school sweetheart on October 29, 1983 and then worked at their family-owned restaurant, The Rome, in Franklin for over 25 years. During that time she received her degree from Tri-County Cosmetology program and worked at Hair Mania. During her last year of illness she really enjoyed watching the show The Talk as her son C.J. is working behind the scenes and every Friday she would look forward to seeing his name in the credits, which brought her much joy. She loved being a homemaker and mother, and was proud to share in the accomplishments of her family. Wrestling was a family passion. She was involved with the Franklin High School wrestling team, where her husband has been coaching for over 30 years. She was happiest when son Carmine C.J. was a State, New England and National Champion, and when Nicholas was a Junior High New England Champion and a two time Massachusetts State Champion during his high school years. Nicholas was also captain of the 2009 State Championship team at Franklin High School. Both sons were All Americans. Many years she accompanied both boys while they competed in the Disney Duals in Orlando, Florida. This always turned out to be a fun family vacation. Gail adored her other two sons, Michael and David for their thoughtful and kind ways. Michael was a constant guardian of his family and she was very proud of David when he graduated from the Blackstone Valley Young Marines program. Gail was also involved with the Wadsworth Wrestling Club, where she assisted with many events and programs. She was also a member of the Franklin High School all night party committee, and devoted many hours to that event. Her interests included participating in the Franklin . While coordinating Team Rome Restaurant for many years and raising over $100,000, Team Rome received gold. She was also asked to be a spokesperson. Gail spoke about her battle with cancer while giving a very inspiring courageous speech. Gail was a very vibrant person who would brighten up a room with her smile and radiant blue eyes. She cherished family gatherings, celebrations and was always willing to help family and friends. She was very loved and will be missed dearly by her large circle of family and friends. Calling hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, July 19, at the Charles F. Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home, 33 Cottage Street, Franklin. Her life will be celebrated with a funeral service at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 20, at Franklin United Methodist Church, 82 West Central Street, Franklin, relatives and friends are invited to attend.
