George E. MacDonald 71, of Franklin, died suddenly, Friday, October 12, 2012 at home. Born July 7, 1941 a son of the late Archibald and Flora A. (MacIsaac) MacDonald, he was a lifelong Franklin resident. He was raised and educated in Franklin, and was a graduate o f Franklin High School and he also attended the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Mr. MacDonald was a retired lette r carrier for the Town of Franklin. He served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps , during the Vietnam War. He was awarded the Marksmanship Badge & the Good Conduct Medal and was discharged in 1963. He enjoyed reading, and was a member of St. Marys Church, Franklin. George is survived by 3 sisters, Mary M. Curran, Florence D. Simmler and her husband Hank and Hughena M. Thompson all of Franklin. He also leaves many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Alexander, Robert, Archie MacDonald, Janice Kehoe and Jane Tero. Arrangements by the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. Franklin. Interment with military honors followed at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
