Gregory C. Whippen, 40, of Arlington, formerly a longtime Franklin resident, died unexpectedly Thursday, April 22, 2010, at his home. Born in Boston, Aug. 3, 1969, a son of Joseph E. Whippen and the late Patricia A. (Casalinuova) Whippen, he was raised and educated in Franklin and was a Franklin High School graduate, Class of 1987. Mr. Whippen worked as a driver for the Cambridge Cab Co., and while living in Franklin, also sold cars at the former Frank Chevrolet dealer on Rte. 140. He was an avid collector of all things antique, cars, coins and the like. He is survived by his father, Joseph E. Whippen, and his wife, Deirdre, of Meredith, N.H.; two brothers, Joseph E. Whippen Jr. of Jaffrey, N.H., and Jonathan Deutch of Florida; three sisters, Belinda L. Rawley of Moultonborough, N.H., Catherine M. Whippen of Meredith, N.H., and Kam Deutch of Texas; one niece, Samantha P. Rawley; and a nephew, Alexander N. Rawley. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service Tuesday, April 27, at 8 p.m., at the Charles F. Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home (www.franklinfuneral.com), 33 Cottage St., Franklin. Private burial will take place in the family lot in St. Mary's Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday, April 27, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. Donations in his memory, in lieu of flowers, made to the Greg Whippen Memorial Fund, 61 Wood Road, Meredith, NH 03253, would be appreciated.
