Obituary Condolences

Harold J. Walker 91, of Beverly, MA (formerly of Evans, GA) passed away peacefully on October 28, 2012. Born on September 20, 1921 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Ernest E. Walker and Annette (Jackson) Walker, he served honorably in the US Army during World War II. He then continued his military service until his retirement in 1965. He went on to a civil service career as an instructor for the US Army Signal School at Fort Monmouth, NJ and Fort Gordon, GA retiring in 1984. He was an artist and calligrapher as well as an avid reader. He also loved to travel and was a multi-linguist. Mr. Walker was a man of honor and integrity who firmly believed that everyone is equal regardless of race, creed or nationality. He will be missed for his wisdom, his stories and his sense of humor. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 50 years, Ann (Jaeger) Walker. He is survived by his daughters, Karin Renda of Newport Beach, CA; Christine Manns of Franklin, MA; Lydia Wojtkiewicz of Goffstown, NH and by his son, Robert Walker of Evans, GA. He is also survived by his sons in law, Jack Manns and Henry Wojtkiewicz and by his grandchildren Michael Renda, Gregory Manns, Emily Manns, Joseph Wojtkiewicz, Jaime Wojtkiewicz and Anne Marie Walker. In addition, he is survived by his dear friend, Maureen Juwig of Hinsdale, IL. Hamel Funeral Home of Quincy, MA is in charge of arrangements. A private burial will be held at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown, PA. Donations in his memory may be made to The or Kaplan House Hospice of Danvers, MA.
