Henry J. Hank Simmler, 85, a lifelong Franklin resident, died Saturday July 5, 2014 at Milford Regional Medical Center, shortly after his arrival there. He was the husband of Florence D. (MacDonald) Simmler. Born in Milford, Dec. 1, 1928 a son of the late Henry C. and Anna E. (Kaslauskas) Simmler, he was raised and educated in Franklin, and was a 1946 graduate of Franklin High School. He worked for many years as a stock manager at the former Foxboro Co., and later until his retirement worked as maintenance and facilities manager for Dean Bank for 12 years. He served in the US Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict, and was honorably discharged in 1954. Hank loved sports. He enjoyed bowling at Ficcos Bowladrome in Franklin, and cheering the New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox. Surviving in addition to his wife are 3 sons: Marc Simmler of Uxbridge, Eric J. Simmler of Franklin, Kirk A. Simmler of Supply, NC; 2 stepsons: James Abel of Medway and Richard Abel of FL; 1 brother, Robert W. Simmler of Franklin, 3 grandchildren: Marc Simmler Jr., Savannah Simmler and Naomi Simmler. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Friday, July 11, at 11:30 AM in the Charles F. Oteri & Son, Franklin Funeral Home, 33 Cottage St. Interment with military honors will follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at 1:30 PM.
