Howard S. Willard Jr., CLU, 81, of Franklin, MA, an outdoorsman, generous spirit and son of the 60s, died on March 2, 2012 at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. He was born in North Dana, MA, a son of the late Howard S. Willard Sr. and Blanch (Drury) Willard. Howard was a graduate of Boston University College of Business Administration. He worked as an agent for New England Life Insurance Company for 56 years and for Freedom Industries during the 1960s. He was a former member of the Board of Directors of Massachusetts Association for Mental Health and a founding member of the Board of Directors of the Peace Abbey. He leaves his wife, Constance Lawson; daughter, Susan Marks; 4 grandsons; 3 great-grandchildren; 2 nieces; 2 nephews and their families; and many dear friends. He was predeceased by a daughter, Judith W. Canniff and a sister, Gweneth W. Hill. In his own unique fashion, Howard placed his concern and commitment to his fellow human beings above all else. A celebration of Howards life was held on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at 12 noon at the Peace Abbey, 2 North Main Street, Sherborn, MA. Interment in South Cemetery, Orange, MA was private. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Peace Abbey, 2 North Main Street, Sherborn, MA 01770. Wittys Funeral Home, 158 South Main Street, Orange, is assisting the family with arrangements.
