John H. Robbins Jr. Obituary
John H. Robbins, Jr., 87, of Norfolk, passed peacefully on November 27, 2017 in the Maples Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Wrentham. He was the beloved husband of the late Patricia L. (Lamore) Robbins. Born in Norfolk on March 5, 1930, he was a son of the late John H. Robbins, Sr., and Catherine (Newenhouse) Robbins. John was a graduate of Walpole High School, class of 1947. He also graduated from Dean Academy, American International College, and received his Masters Degree from Fitchburg State College. He worked as a teacher and coach at King Philip Regional High School from 1959 to 1975, where he was inducted into the Hall of Fame as a coach. He later served as Deputy Registrar of Motor Vehicles, as Dean of Continuing Education at NorthEastern, and retired from the Mass Department of Revenue Division of Local Services. He served as Chairman of the Board of Assessors and was past president of MAAO. An avid golfer, he was a longtime member and Past President of the Franklin Country Club. John enjoyed many winters in Vero Beach Florida with his wife Patricia after retirement. He was an avid Patriots and Red Sox fan. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. John is survived by his children, Deborah J. Robbins of Norfolk, John G. Robbins and his wife Lynne of Norfolk, and Kathleen Rockwood and her husband Thomas of Walpole, his grandchildren, Tracy L. Robbins of Arlington, MA, Kristina Potter and her husband Shawn of Wrentham, Katy Proctor and her husband Rob of Wrentham, John G. Robbins, Jr. of Norfolk, Nicole Barossi and her husband Thomas of Cape May, NJ, Christopher Rockwood and his wife Haley of Burlington, VT, and John Rockwood and his wife Ashlee of Champagne, IL. Also survived by 5 great grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, December 7th from 4-7 PM in the RJ Ross Funeral Home, 135 South Street, Wrentham. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Friday, December 8th at 10 AM. Burial will follow in Norfolk Cemetery.
