Joseph P. Murzycki Obituary
Joseph Paul Murzycki, 94, of Bellingham died July 19, 2016 peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Irma (Archambault) Murzycki with whom he shared 69 years of marriage. Born March 12, 1922 in Webster, son of the late Roman and Antonia (Kalemba) Murzycki, he was raised and educated in Webster before moving to Bellingham in 1963. Joe was a United States Navy veteran, having served his country proudly during two wars. He was aboard the Destroyer USS Davis during the invasion of Normandy. He was then assigned to the US Kula Gulf during the Korean War. He worked as a textile dyer at Packard Mills in Webster and at Careyville Mills in Bellingham followed by Roxbury Carpet in Framingham. However, his greatest passion was serving the Medway school system as a custodian where he was fondly known as Mr. Joe. It was during this time he had made many long-term friendships as he did with his close friend, Ken White of Blackstone. Later in his life, he proudly volunteered his time alongside his wife at Milford Regional Medical Center for 20 years earning his 5,000 hour service pin peddling the mail as he would refer to it. Joseph was a long time communicant of St. Brendans Parish in Bellingham where he served as a collector for 30 years. Over the years his interests included golf, bowling, gardening, dancing, traveling or just putting around the house, although his greatest love was spending time with his family. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, proud father and an adored Grampy, as well as brother, uncle and friend. He enjoyed activities at the Bellingham Senior Center and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. Besides his wife, he is survived by his three children, Janet Hollander and her longtime companion, Harry Plausse, of Bellingham; Michael Murzycki and his wife, Deborah, of Bellingham; and Deborah Williams and her husband, Frank, of Mendon; 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and by his three sisters Rose Rekowski of Webster; Nellie DiRoberto of Worcester, and Frances Gilmartin and her husband, Jack of Worcester. Joe was predeceased by siblings, Jennie Leo, Walter Murzycki, Peter Murzycki, Edward Murzycki, John Murzycki, Louis Murzycki, and Stasia Murzycki. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff on the first floor of the Meehan Family Pavilion at Milford Regional Medical Center. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral from the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) on Friday, July 22 at 1:15 p.m. followed by a funeral Mass at St. Brendan Church, 382 Hartford Ave. in Bellingham at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Medway. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 5-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Milford Regional Healthcare Foundation - Oliva Comfort Care Fund, 14 Prospect St., Milford, MA 01757.
