Kevin W. MacDonald FRANKLIN Kevin W. MacDonald, 58, a Franklin resident for more than 26 years and a former Needham resident, died Monday, Dec. 28, 2009 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, following a long illness. He was the husband of Laraine (Thomas) MacDonald. Born in Boston, Sept. 30, 1951, a son of Marie Ann (Bartsch) Ray of Waltham and the late William G. MacDonald, he was raised and educated in Needham, and was a 1970 graduate of Needham High School. Until his illness forced him to stop working, he worked as a sales representative for AH Harris & Sons in Walpole. He served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. He attained the Tank of Aviation Electrician's Mate 2nd class, and was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. He was honorably discharged in May 1974. He was active in Franklin Youth Baseball and hockey. He was a coach and longtime supporter of youth sports. Surviving in addition to his wife of 36 years and his mother are two sons, Scott W. of Franklin and James I. of Quincy; four brothers, Paul MacDonald of Franklin, William MacDonald of Charlestown, .H., Richard Ray of Holliston and Lawrence Ray of Middleboro; two sisters, Elaine Alden of Waltham and Denise Dela Salva of Medfield, and one grandson, Thomas Joseph MacDonald. Relatives and friends were invited to attend his funeral with military honors Thursday, Dec. 31 at 8:15 a.m. from the Charles F. Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home, 33 Cottage St., www.franklinfuneral.com, with a funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church at 9 a.m. Interment St. Mary's Cemetery.
