Lawrence J. Larry Orlando, 85, of Franklin, died Monday December 2, 2013 at Norwood Hospital. He was the husband of Maria (Chieffo) Orlando. Born in Flushing, New York March 17, 1928 a son of the late Joseph and Grace (Simone) Orlando, he was raised and educated in New York, and had lived in Franklin since 1968. Mr. Orlando was a retired civil engineer, and worked for the MBTA for many years until his retirement. He served in the United States Marine Corps during WWII. He attained the rank of Pfc. and was honorably discharged in August 1946. He was a communicant of St. Marys Church in Franklin, and was a former member of the Franklin Sons of Italy. He enjoyed woodworking; landscaping and his 30 return trips to Italy. Surviving in addition to his wife of 50 years are his children; Joseph A. Orlando and his wife Paola of Bellingham, Grace O. Allen and her husband Gregory of Norfolk, Joanne O. Pollard and her husband Mark of Woburn, a sister Rose Fellin of New York, and 7 grandchildren. He is also the father of the late Joanne Orlando who died in 1970. Relatives and friends attended his funeral Friday Dec. 6th, at 9:15AM from the Charles F. Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. Franklin, with a Funeral Mass in St. Marys Church One Church Sq. at 10AM. Interment with military honors followed in the parish cemetery.
