Lucy A. (DeBaggis) Sheehan, 94, of Wrentham, and a former Franklin and Woonsocket, R.I., resident, died peacefully Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at the Maples Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Wrentham, following an illness. She was the wife of William A. Sheehan, who died in 1964. Born in Franklin, Jan. 8, 1918, a daughter of the late Diego N. and Josephine (Colobouno) DeBaggis, she was raised and educated in Franklin, where she was the class valedictorian of Franklin High School, Class of 1936. After initially working as an administrative assistant in Wrentham, she enthusiastically worked as a nursery school teacher for Mount St. Charles Academy in Woonsocket. A devout Catholic, she was also a religious education teacher, who taught scores of children at Precious Blood Church in Woonsocket. She is survived by a son, William D. Sheehan and his wife, Carol, of Middletown, R.I.; two sisters, Sylvia Stein of Galloway, N.J., and Mary DeBaggis of Wrentham; a grandson, Nicholas Sheehan and his wife, Dayna; and a great-grandson, Hudson Sheehan of Stratford, Conn. She was the sister of the late Christine Hume, Elmiro, Anthony, Ernest, and Joseph Debaggis. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Mass on Tuesday Jan. 8, at 10 a.m., at St. Jude Church, 86 Main St., Norfolk. Burial will follow in St. Charles Cemetery, Blackstone. A calling hour will be held from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m., prior to the funeral Mass, at the Charles F. Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home, 33 Cottage St., Franklin (www.oterifuneralhome.com).
