Madaline A. (LaPorte) Barnes 75, of Franklin, died Saturday March 14, 2015 at the UMASS Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Lester C. Barnes, Jr. who died in 2011. Born February 29, 1940 in Providence, RI, a daughter of the late Victor O. and Ellen M. (Sherman) LaPorte, she was a Franklin resident since 1965. She was raised and educated in Pascoag, RI, and was a graduate of Burrillville High School. Madaline worked as a teacher's aide in the Franklin school system until her retirement. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren, watching soap operas', meeting her friends for lunch, and going to the beach. She was a member of St. Mary's Church, Franklin. She is survived by a daughter Samantha L. Florest and her husband Steven of Bellingham, her grandchildren, Ava, Cole and Logan Florest, a sister in law Patricia Barnes of North Providence, 2 nieces, Cheryl Barnes of Wakefield, RI, Janice McCarthy of Rehoboth, a nephew Jeffrey Barnes of Cumberland, RI and great nephew Camden Barnes. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Thursday March 19th, at 9:15AM from the Charles F. Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St., followed by a funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church 1 Church Sq. Franklin at 10AM. Interment will follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
