Paul R. MacDonald Obituary
Paul R. MacDonald, 62, of Franklin, died peacefully, with family at his side, Friday, July 22, 2016 at Milford Regional Medical Center following a long illness. He was the beloved husband of Diane G. (Gavin) MacDonald for 35 years. Born January 30, 1954, in Boston a son of Marie A. (Bartsch) Ray of Waltham and the late William G. MacDonald, he was a former resident of Needham, before moving to Franklin in 1982. He was raised and educated in Needham where he was a 1973 graduate of Needham High School and continued his education at Framingham State University, where he received a Bachelors degree in History. Until his illness forced him to retire, he worked as a sales representative for the Bruin Plastics Company in Rhode Island. Paul was a former youth hockey coach for the towns of Franklin, Dover-Sherborn, Medfield and Mansfield. He was also very proud, when he was named the Assistant girls hockey coach for Salve Regina University in Newport, RI. He treasured spending time with his family, golfing, and history. In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by his children; Sasha M. MacDonald & Carolyn M. MacDonald of Franklin, brothers; William MacDonald of Charlestown, NH, Richard Ray of Cumberland, RI, Lawrence Ray of Maine, sisters; Elaine Alden of Waltham, Denise Della Selva of Mendon and many nieces & nephews. He was the brother of the late Kevin W. MacDonald. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Thursday, July 28th at 9:15AM from the Charles F. Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home, 33 Cottage St., followed by a funeral Mass in St. Marys Church, Franklin at 10AM. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury. Calling hours are Wednesday from 4-8PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be sent to Salve Regina University Girls Hockey Program, 100 Ochre Point Ave. Newport, RI 02840.
