Obituary Condolences

Paul R. Tracey, BPD, 82, of Franklin, passed away peacefully, Friday May 8, 2015 at UMASS Medical Center in Worcester. He was the husband of the late Dorothy L. (Alonzo) Tracey, who died in 2006. Born September 25, 1932 in Boston, a son of the late Joseph T. and Gertrude (Flynn) Tracey, he was raised and educated in Boston, and was formerly of the Jamaica Plain section of Boston, before moving to Franklin 51 years ago. Paul was a proud veteran having served in the United States Coast Guard for four years, and was a former officer with the Boston Police Department, before joining the Metropolitan District Commission Police Department, where he worked for many years until retiring. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, proud father, adored grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Paul enjoyed the simpler things in life; he loved to laugh, engage in a good conversation, give advice and always took time to listen. Most of all, he treasured spending time with his daughter, granddaughter, son in law, his sister, nephew, cousin and family and friends. Paul was a communicant of St. Marys Church in Franklin, and was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan. He is survived by his daughter Lisa M. Popowski and her husband Myron of South Hadley, MA, his granddaughter Kristyn M. Popowski, a sister Carrol Gray of Norton, and his nephew Mark Gray of Attleboro, along with many loving family members and friends. Paul will be greatly missed and will be forever remembered and held close in heart, by his family members and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Mass Wednesday May 13th at 12PM in St. Marys Church, 1 Church Sq. Franklin. Interment will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery, South Hadley, MA. Calling hours at the Charles F. Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home, 33 Cottage St., Franklin, are Wednesday morning 10:00-11:30AM prior to the Mass. Donations in Pauls memory may be sent to the 5 Manley St. West Bridgewater, MA 02379. Guestbook / directions www.oterifuneralhome.com.
