Obituary Condolences

Peter R. Groome 86, of Franklin, died peacefully at his home, Saturday December 27, 2014 following an illness. He was the beloved husband of Lucy J. (Verna) Groome. Born June 6, 1928, in Redbourne, England a son of the late Robert and Louisa (Revell) Groome, he was a longtime resident of Franklin and a former resident of Foxboro. He came to the United States as a young boy and settled in Foxboro, where he was educated and was a graduate of Foxboro High School Class of 1946. Upon graduating he entered the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1949. After returning home, he attended Northeastern University where he received a masters degree in engineering, and continued his education at the University of Rhode Island, where he obtained his MBA in business administration. Peter was the former vice president of Blackstone Valley Electric and worked in the same capacity for Fall River Electric and Brockton Edison. He also formerly worked for Eastern Utilities Associates. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, he was a quiet and kind person who cherished time spent with his family. In addition to his wife of 57 years, he is survived by 2 sons; David A. Groome and his wife Kelley of Texas & Paul W. Groome and his wife Susan of Woonsocket, RI, a brother, John Groome of South Carolina, a sister, Revella Lee of Florida and his grandchildren; Matthew, Scott, Michael, Kristen, Kelsey and Kenna Groome, and a great granddaughter Melody Groome. He was the brother of the late Charles Groome and Phyllis Plympton. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Mass Wednesday Dec. 31st, at 10AM in St. Marys Church 1 Church Sq. FRANKLIN. Interment at St. Marys Cemetery will be held privately. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be sent to the , 5 Manley St., West Bridgewater, MA 02379. Arrangements are under the care of the Charles F.
