Obituary Condolences

Peter Samuel Scoba, of Franklin, beloved husband of Jeanne and loving father of Kate, Eliza and Sam passed away peacefully at his home on June 11, 2014. Pete was born in Poughkeepsie, NY on November 25, 1959 and was raised in Beacon, NY. He was married to Jeanne McElduff on October 9, 1983. After initially residing in Boston, they settled their family in Franklin, Massachusetts. He attended St. Joachim School in Beacon and Our Lady of Lourdes High School in Poughkeepsie. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Clarkson University where he was a proud member of Tau Delta Kappa. He later earned his Masters Degree in Business from the Boston College Carroll School of Management. Petes distinguished career of over 30 years in development and construction management of commercial real estate began with Turner Construction in New York City in 1981. He subsequently joined The Chiofaro Company, where he was responsible for tenant and base building improvements for the iconic International Place development in Boston. He later served as Senior Vice President of Development and Construction at Davis Marcus Partners. In 2008, Pete became a Principal at Marcus Partners, where he directed development and construction management. Pete is remembered most for his love of family, friends and athletics. He discovered ways to enjoy all three through works of charity in his support of the Pan-Mass Challenge and Best Buddies. Together with his family, friends, and their adored community in Franklin, he found great joy in town, school and professional sports events. He fully realized his love of the sport of lacrosse through the exploits of his children, nieces, nephews and their teammates. He was equally at ease in great crowds or in quiet spaces of solitude. In addition to his wife and children, Pete is survived by his brother, Michael J. Scoba, Jr. and his wife, Denise Ann Ackerman of Hyde Park, NY; his sister, Ann L. Evans of Hyde Park, NY, as well as his in-laws, nieces and nephews. His parents, Barbara and Michael, predeceased him. Following a private burial, Jeanne, Kate, Eliza and Sam will receive family and friends at Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 131 Main Street, Franklin, MA from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Tuesday, June 17, 2014. A liturgy celebrating Pete's life will take place at St. Marys Church in Franklin at 10:00 am, June 18, 2014. In lieu of flowers, donations in Petes memory may be made to the Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC Headquarters, 77 4th Street, Needham, MA 02494, www.pmc.org).
