Richard C. Stevens, 77, of Franklin died February 21, 2013 in Newton-Wellesley Hospital. He was the husband of Patricia (Miles) Stevens. Born in Middletown, Connecticut, August 30, 1935, the son of the late Frederick and Millicent (Potter) Stevens. Mr. Stevens was raised in Portland, Connecticut and had lived in Franklin for the past 49 years. Mr. Stevens attended the University of Connecticut. He had been an engineer for the IBM Corporation for over thirty years before retiring. Mr. Stevens also served in the Navy during the Korean War. He was a talented woodworker and painter, with both oils and acrylic. He also enjoyed playing bocce. In addition to his wife he is survived by his children, Cynthia McClain and her husband Patrick of Franklin, Tracey Gately and her husband Joseph Gately, Jr. of Norfolk and Richard C. Stevens Jr. and his wife Hilda of Raynham. He is also survived by his siblings, Betsy Kensel, Janet Gallagher, Eugene, Donald and Edward Stevens all of Connecticut. He was the brother of the late William and Jack Stevens. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Steven Salvanelli, Patrick and Mark Gately. His funeral service will be held on Wednesday February 27 in the Trinity Episcopal Church, Wrentham at 11:00. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Tuesday from 4-7. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in his memory to the , 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701 or the Massachusetts DAV, 546 State House, Boston, MA 02133.
