Rita J. Badzmierowski Obituary
Rita J. (Gifford) Badzmierowski, 80, of Bellingham, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 24, 2010, at her home surrounded by her loving family after her struggle with ALS. She was the devoted wife of Charles R. Badzmierowski Sr. for the past 59 years. Born on Dec. 23, 1929, in Watertown, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Bridget (Mahoney) Gifford. A resident of Bellingham since 1955, Mrs. Badzmierowski grew up in Watertown and graduated from St. Patrick's High School in 1948. In her lifetime, Rita worked at Woonsocket Hospital for 20 years and also for the Town of Bellingham as a secretary in the Selectmen's Office. Mrs. Badzmierowski was a daily communicant of St. Brendan's Church in North Bellingham and volunteered there for over 40 years. She had formerly been a very active parishioner at St. Blaise Parish. She loved taking care of her grandchildren as well as her beloved husband Chuck and enjoyed spending time with her family. Rita was in every sense a living angel, friend of everyone she encountered, and a true definition of a lady. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Charles, Jr. of Scituate, Theresa Nogueira of Milford, William of Wisconsin, Joseph of Arlington, John of Burrillville, RI, Kathleen Aicardi of Mendon and Robert of Uxbridge. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. She was predeceased by eight brothers and sisters. Relatives and friends were invited to attend her funeral on Wednesday, April 28, from the Ginley-Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St., Medway (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) at 9 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass, at St. Brendan's Church in North Bellingham, at 10 a.m. Interment followed at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Medway. Calling hours were held on Tuesday, April 27, from 5-8 p.m. Expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to the St. Brendan's Church Bldg. Fund, 382 Hartford Ave., N. Bellingham, MA 02019.
