Robert E. Ekstrom Sr. Obituary
Robert E. Ekstrom, Sr. 83, of Franklin, died peacefully, Thursday October 1, 2015 at the Medway Country Manor following an illness. He was the husband of the late Florence P. (Nicholson) Ekstrom, who died in 2007 and the late Caroline J. (Carlson) Ekstrom, who died in 1973. Born September 30, 1932 in Milford, a son of the late Sven and Dora R. (Pepin) Ekstrom, he was a longtime Franklin resident. He was raised and educated in Franklin, and was a retired crane operator having worked for Union Local 4, for over 30 years. Robert was a proud United States Marine and served during the Korean War. He attained the rank of Private First Class and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal; he was honorably discharged in November 1953. Following his retirement, along with his wife, Bob visited 49 states and most of Canada. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, the outdoors and spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his children; Robert E. Ekstrom, Jr. and his wife Anne of Rock River, Wyoming, Mark A. Mucciarone and his wife Christine of Franklin, David Mucciarone and his wife Cindy of California, Brenda L. Nicholas of Franklin and Lynn M. Mucci of Milford, a sister Carol Reed of Franklin, 14 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. He was the father of the late Bradford Ekstrom Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service Monday Oct. 5th, at 11AM in the Charles F. Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home, 33 Cottage St. Interment with military honors will follow at Union Street Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday from 1-3PM at the funeral home.
