Roy Fournier, Sr. 82, of Franklin died April 13 in Mount St. Ritas Healthcare in Cumberland, Rhode Island following a long illness. He was the husband of Irene (Dragani) Fournier for the past 60 years. Born in Dorchester, August 9, 1931, the son of the late William and Hazel (Harrington) Fournier, Mr. Fournier was raised in Dorchester and had been a resident of Franklin for the past 45 years. He was a graduate of the School of Commerce in Boston. Mr. Fournier had worked at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston for many years before retiring in 2000. He had previously spent many years in retail, at Delanos Mens Store in Boston and Shreve, Crump and Low. Roy was an avid Boston sports fan, especially of the Boston Red Sox. He also enjoyed times spent with his sons and grandsons at Foxwoods and Twin Rivers, and vacationing in Wells Beach, Maine with his family. In addition to his wife he is survived by his children, Donna Cameron and her husband Joseph of Sandwich, Roy Fournier, Jr. and his fianc Saundra Gooch of Sagamore Beach, Marie Barraclough and her husband Stephen of Dover, New Hampshire, Robert Fournier and his wife Laurie of Marshfield, Brian Fournier and his wife Elayne of Franklin and Marc Fournier and his fianc Noelle MacMahon of Lunenburg. He was the twin brother of the late William Jack: Fournier. He is also survived by his sister - in law Diane and Dr. Phil Caruso of Holliston and Robert Dragani of St. Louis, Missouri. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and a large extended family and friends. His funeral will be held on Wednesday, April 16 from the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 131 Main Street Franklin, at 9:15 followed by a funeral mass in St. Marys Church at 10:00. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Calling hours will be on Tuesday from 4-8. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made in his memory to Cervical Cancer Fund for Jillian Barraclough c/o Citizens Bank, 1415 Boston- Providence Highway, Norwood, MA 02062. The family wants to thank the staff and residents of Eaton Place for the many kind thoughts and prayers they have shared with us during this difficult time. Roy loved being part of the Eaton community and took so much joy in the relationships built over the last few years. The family also wants to thank Mount St. Ritas Healthcare Centre and Rhode Island Hospice for the compassion, dedication and kindness which brought peace and comfort to Roys final days. He will always be remembered for his quiet and gentle spirit and for the devotion and love he had for his family.
