Ruth K. (Kearney) Parker, 84, of Franklin, died peacefully, Sunday, Sept. 5, 2010, surrounded by her family at the Metro West Medical Center in Framingham. Born in Franklin on Sept. 28, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Michael J. and Mary Elizabeth (McCarthy) Kearney. Mrs. Parker was a lifelong resident of Franklin and graduated from Franklin High School and Framingham State College and earned a Masters Degree in Education from Boston University. She was a middle school teacher in Franklin for 43 years. Mrs. Parker was a member of the Red Hats Society and the Catholic Woman's Club at St. Mary's Church in Franklin. She was an avid bridge player and liked to travel and do needle point. Mrs. Parker cherished time spent with her family and especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her son, John Parker and his wife Linda of Fitchburg, two granddaughters, Melissa Tippens of Dexter, Michigan and Meaghann Babineau of Holden, four great-grandchildren, Henry and Theresa Tippens and Mikayla and Joseph Babineau and her special grand-niece, Kathleen Mullaney. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Elizabeth Soltys and Robert Kearney. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral on Saturday, Sept. 11, from the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin, 131 Main St., (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com), at 9:15 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass at St. Mary's Church in Franklin, at 10 a.m., which will be celebrated by her nephew, Rev. Timothy Kearney, Pastor of St. Mary's Church in Hull. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Friday, Sept. 10, from 4-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Massachusetts Special Olympics, 512 Forest St., Marlboro, MA 01752.
